Monster

What am I?
I am a monster. Isn't it simple enough?

The mask I wear hides my pain,
The mask I wear hides my shame.
I don my mask, hat and gloves. My coat and blue scarf too.

All those articles hide my shame.
All those articles hide my pain.
The blatant fact underneath it all,
I'm a monstrosity of six feet tall.
It's all an act, all a game.
For they can never accept me as I am, so I must pretend to live...as I live to pretend.

However, I worry not.
For my dear angel reassures me so...
That one day people shall learn to grow...
And eventually accept me for who I am rather than the facade I must put on...
